Rose and Liam's fundraiser to improve cancer care Donate In summer 2024, Rose from Belchford received chemotherapy in the Ingham Suite during one of the year’s hottest periods. A year later, Liam from South Hykeham received treatment in the same conditions. The heat was overwhelming, and both pledged to raise funds for air‑conditioning to improve comfort for future patients. Installing air‑conditioning will significantly improve the experience for the hundreds of patients who spend long hours in the unit each year. Liam's story: "In February 2025, I noticed a yellow tint in my eyes and was rushed to Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham, for emergency bile duct surgery. I was then told I had 12 tumours in my bile duct, liver and blood vessels, a prognosis of just twelve months to live. I began chemotherapy at Lincoln County Hospital’s Ingham Suite during one of the hottest summers on record. The heat was unbearable. We were all struggling - nurses and patients alike. It was so uncomfortable to sit in the chairs and have chemo in these conditions. "Determined to help I organised a charity golf day and completed a sponsored skydive, raising £4,730." Rose's story: "I was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer in May 2024. Despite the extreme heat, the nurses were incredible, continuing to care for patients with calm professionalism. Their dedication and composure never wavered. When my chemotherapy ended in November, I fundraised with support from friends, family and colleagues at Tropic Skincare, where I work, raising £5,705. "We have both responded well to treatment. After meeting during a recent visit to the ward , we've become good friends and are now working together to raise the final amount needed to install air-conditioning before the next summer months. Please support our appeal if you can." It would be lovely if Rose and Liam could achieve the target amount needed to fund the full installation of the air-conditioning on Ingham Suite. Any donation, large or small will make a huge difference. Linda Patrick Manage Cookie Preferences
